Department Academic Advising
A system of undergraduate advising, in the form of both a staff and a faculty advisor, exists to support every undergraduate student in the Chemical Engineering program.
Faculty advising
Each year, all incoming students (freshmen, change-of-majors, and transfer students) are assigned a faculty advisor, and they retain this relationship until they complete the program. All students are required to meet with their faculty advisors at least once per year, to review their progress in the chemical engineering curriculum and to obtain timely, personalized guidance regarding academic and professional development.
Staff advising
Some students require program-specific curriculum guidance that is more specialized than the College Undergraduate Office is able to provide. For such instances, departmental advising is directed by the Vice Chair of Undergraduate Affairs, currently Professor Phillip Christopher. The Vice Chair is supported by the department’s Student Affairs and Academic Affairs Manager, Erica Diaz, who advises students on questions regarding curriculum, degree requirements, petitions and other requests.
